Prescott: Maidana Lucky, Would've Knocked His Ass Out!

By Rick Reeno

Breidis Prescott considers Marcos Maidana to be a lucky man, because the Colombian boxer would have loved to step in for the injured Roberto Guerrero, who on Thursday withdrew from his scheduled fight with Marcos Maidana after suffering a left shoulder injury in camp. The fight was scheduled for August 27th in San Jose.Prescott is scheduled to fight Paul McCloskey in a WBA junior welterweight eliminator on September 10th in Ireland. The winner will become the mandatory challenger to Maidana's regular WBA title. Amir Khan is the WBA's super champion at junior welterweight. Maidana is lucky that I'm fighting McCloskey in September. I would have stepped in there and knocked his ass out. After I'm done with McCloskey, I'm coming for Maidana, Prescott said to BoxingScene.com.Prescott's manager, Luis DeCubas Jr., is confident his fighter will defeat McClsokey, and then secure a Maidana showdown at the end of the year or early 2012. After Breidis gets done with McCloskey, we're going after Maidana. Khan almost finished Maidana off in the first round, and when Maidana had Khan in trouble - he couldn't put him away. But Breidis knocked Khan cold in 54 seconds and Khan has been running from the rematch ever since, DeCubas said.Tags: Marcos Maidana , Breidis Prescott , Paul McCloskey , McCloskey vs Prescott , McCloskey-Prescott , Maidana-Prescott , Maidana vs Prescott
