Erik Morales, Jose Alfaro Combo Going Well in Camp

By Jhonny Gonzalez

The training camp combination of Erik Morales and Jose Alfaro is going well, as earlier this week the Nicaraguan boxer joined Morales' camp in Mexico to spar and trainer with each other. The former foes who exchanged punches in 2010, have important fights coming up. Alfaro faces multi-division champion Humberto Soto on September 3 in Los Mochis and Morales takes on Lucas Matthysse on September 17 in Las Vegas for the vacant WBC 140-pound belt. There are few fighters in Mexico that can help me like Alfaro, but he's a fighter that I know very well because we've fought [each other] and I believe that he has what's necessary to help me. Alfaro is very strong and I can say that he will be a tough opponent for Soto. That fight won't be easy for either of them, and I'm psotive that if Soto doesn't arrive at his best, then he will be in trouble, Morales told Sal Rodriguez.Alfaro is very happy to be training with Morales. When we fought each other it was another thing, the objective was to win. Now the unique thing is that that I want to help him and he wants to help me because we both have tough fights coming up. Morales is a great fighter and I have a tough fight coming up with Soto. I thank him for not taking nationalities into account, Alfaro said.Tags: Erik Morales , Lucas Matthysse , Humberto Soto , Morales-Matthysse , Morales vs Matthysse
