Cleverly gets little known American for home title defence

Nathan Cleverly will defend his WBO light heavyweight title against American Tommy Karpency at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena on February 25th.
Southpaw Karpency, 25, (pictured) has won 21 of his 24 fights, against two losses and a draw.
In May last year he recovered from a knockdown in the second round to drop a points decision to then unbeaten Karo Murat in Germany. In Murat's next fight, Cleverly stopped him after nine completed rounds of a cracking scrap.
Karpency, rated 83rd in the world by BoxRec ('Clev' is number five whilst most recent foe Bellew - calling for a rematch - is 18th) dropped a tight but unanimous points decision to fellow Pennsylvania fighter Rayco Saunders (then 15-10-2) in July 2008. In his fight before this, Karpency drew with Demetrius Davis (then 18-14-4).
In Karpency's eleven fights since the Saunders defeat, his only blot has been the Murat loss, albeit against mainly moderate opposition.
This is my first fight in Cardiff for a long time and I'm looking forward to putting on a good show for my fans against Karpency, said Cleverly.
I've trained over Christmas and I'm in great shape already and we're still over seven weeks away from the fight so I'll be spot on come fight night.
Karpency looks like a tough fighter and he took Murat the distance and Murat gave me a hard fight.
