There are two things Manny Pacquiao wants on his upcoming fight with Shane Mosley on May 7 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
First, he wants to entertain boxing fans with his display of superb fighting skills and entertaining moves in order to satisfy boxing's most discriminating fight fans.
Secondly, he wants to maximize his earnings by choosing financially viable fights. Pacquiao believes his fight with Mosley is the most viable among the three proposals presented to him in terms of financial returns.
These were some of the reasons why Pacquiao chose Shane Mosley over Juan Manuel Marquez and Andre Berto as his next opponent, according to Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz.
Koncz has criticized those who are putting down Mosley's credentials as well as Manny Pacquiao's accomplishments, saying Mosley is still a very dangerous opponent especially in the early rounds.
When Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum announced the Filipino boxer's next opponent, critics including some sportswriters and media members, have been waging a campaign to boycott the upcoming Pacquiao-Mosley fight.
Yahoo Sports Kevin Iole in one of his articles said, "When Arum didn t have anything to sell, he said Mosley was an old man and nobody would want to see him".
Will Manny Pacquiao prolong his fight with Shane Mosley in order to entertain boxing fans?
"He knows the score when it comes to Shane Mosley and he said so in September". Iole added
TheYahoo Sports popular sportswriter continued, "With no dog in the fight, he painted Mosley for what he is, aonce-great champion long past his prime. Tuesday, with something tosell, suddenly Mosley has become this dangerous and highly popular foe".
Iole also said "Arum is selling a bunch of garbage and this is one of the times when everyone knows it".
Regardless of the critics opposition to the Pacquiao-Mosley match, boxing fans are looking forward to an exciting fight.
As Michael Koncz said, Pacquiao is out to entertain boxing fans when he squares off with the aging Shane Mosley on May 7.
Pacquiao is expected to remain cautious in the first three to five rounds as he knows Mosley is dangerous in the early rounds.
If Pacquiao is out to entertain fans, he may not go for an early knock out even if he has the opportunity to do so.
It is possible he will go for it in the later rounds when he feels he has entertained the live audience at the MGM Grand and the millions of fans watching on television all over the world.
